If you are looking for a job in a CP team you must be properly trained. The security industry will be subject to new regulatory legislation in 2005 and you will not be able to work as a CP team member without having completed a course accredied by the SIA
( www.the-sia.org.uk/ ). This legislation includes those already qualified and experienced.
Often people confuse CP work with Armed Escort duties, but the two are very different. CP is a trade in its own right and any CP team member must be trained in the specialist techniques and skills required. Armed Escort work is often more reliant on an overt guard force and may often be carried out by good quality soldiers with no specific training beyond the (very valuable) military skills training received in the Army or elsewhere.
There are a wide range of CP courses available and CP training is a popular choice for service leavers. The standards can be very mixed, and the perceived value of a CP course qualification is based entirely in the reputation of the training provider and its ex-students. XC3 list here some of the most respected providers - the very top end of the CP training market.
