Intelligent Online Recruiting for the Security Industry

Medical Skills

Employers do consider medical skills as very important, and in many situations will not deploy personnel without a well trained medic in the group.

There is no legislation that defines a 'medic' for the security industry, except where the industry overlaps with others such as the oil and gas industry, which has qualifications such as Offshore Medic, or for higher levels such as Paramedic.

In terms of basic personal skills, anyone deploying to a remote and / or potentially hazardous environment should be able to use a trauma pack, so if your basic first aid skills are lacking through lack of training or lack of use, you would be well advised to consider doing a short training or refresher course.

The training providers included here by XC3 offer training specifically aimed at the industry (and other related tasks such as expedition medic) and their courses are known and respected by employers. Courses may be accredited by medical bodies in the UK and this may be of use to potential students in assessing the merit of a given course.
